Description of the properties
The village, built around 1100, belonged, from 1361 to 1894, to two noble families from Siena, i Tolomei and i Piccolomini.
Later, in 1894, it became property of Pietro Emilio Targes de Rochefort, a member of the French aristocracy.
Today, the magnificent Castle remains settled inside the village, sheltered by Porrona’s medieval walls. The scenery reveals one of world’s most unique and untouched places where natural beauty, history, art and gastronomy all meet – portraying an enchanting atmosphere in Tuscany, Italy.
The Castle Relais is composed of 25 rooms, suites and apartments, indoor and outdoor restaurants, spacious common areas, clubhouse, bars, outdoor swimming pool and state-of-the-art wellness facility, Agua SPA.
The restoration work of the Castel Relais has been achieved with full respect to its original architectural details, preserving precious components throughout the complex such as terracotta tiles, red bricks and stone-clad walls. The result beautifully highlights the medieval spirit of the building, retaining its historic integrity and authenticity.
The property is located within a short drive from relevant historic, cultural and touristic attractions such as Siena, Firenze, Montalcino, the hot springs of Saturnia, Maremma’s National Park and the glamorous coast of Punta Ala. The Castle Relais is the ideal destination for a sea and countryside escape.

Ample double rooms, each one different to the next, the Classic Rooms are ideal for two people, and are sized between 20 and 25 sq.m.
ll rooms are decorated in Tuscan country style, with antique materials and fine fabrics.
